NAMRC Student Research Presentation Award As part of the annual North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRC), a Student Research Presentation Award is given to students recognizing their contribution to the conference. Encouraging young talent to pursue a career in manufacturing research is of vital importance to the long-term goals of the manufacturing community. Previous Winners A student who is a coauthor of a paper accepted by NAMRC is eligible to participate in the contest. The presentation is judged on the student's oral delivery and will be part of regular technical sessions and have the same time limitations. A Student is eligible to participate who is enrolled in full or part-time undergraduate or graduate studies at the time of their oral presentation at the conference. Postdoctoral and research engineers are excluded as they are considered staff members. The presentations will be judged by a panel, which is comprised of the NAMRI/SME Honors Committee members or their delegates. Panel members will not judge their own students. The judgment will be primarily based on clarity of presentation, including oral expression and use of visual aids, originality and the scientific merit of material. First, second and third-place winners will be announced either during the NAMRI | SME Awards Luncheon or at the NAMRI | SME General Membership Meeting at NAMRC. Award selection procedure: Student coauthors of accepted NAMRC papers, who wish to be considered for the contest, should contact Dr. Xun Xu, NAMRI/SME Scientific Committee chair, by March 31 of the conference year. The Scientific Committee will prepare a short list of student presenters based on the quality of the papers and notify the candidates in early April. Winners will be selected from the short-listed student presenters at NAMRC based on the aforementioned award criteria.
