AdvancedManufacturing.org Launches New App for iOS, Android

SME Media’s full range of publications available on the go through new smartphone app

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Sept. 9, 2024) – Want to keep up with all the happenings at the International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago?

SME, the nonprofit association committed to advancing the widespread adoption of manufacturing technologies and developing North America’s talent and capabilities, is launching a new smartphone app for both iOS and Android to offer its full range of publications in a convenient on-the-go format.

The Advanced Manufacturing app, available now in the App Store and the Google Play Store, includes access to content posted on AdvancedManufacturing.org, as well as all the content you’ll find in each edition of Manufacturing Engineering magazine, Smart Manufacturing magazine, and the new Smart Shop Essentials. In addition, you’ll find e-editions of the magazines, and complete coverage of what’s going on at IMTS.

“Manufacturing isn’t an industry where people are sitting at a desk all day,” said Jake Volcsko, SME’s vice president of integrated media. “We recognized early on that our digital products needed to include a way to reach a manufacturing audience in the way most convenient for them.”

The app allows users to customize their experience by selecting specific topics, giving them instant access to the content that is most relevant to their business or industry. “We wanted to remove barriers and connect our users to the information that matters most to them,” said Volcsko.

In addition to content found in the magazines and news stories posted to AdvancedManufacturing.org, the app provides access to a growing library of video content as well as the Advanced Manufacturing Now podcast.

“We’re putting an emphasis on multimedia content, both video and audio, because the feedback we’re getting from users is that they want more of this kind of content,” said Volcsko. “The app, like everything we’re doing, is focused on serving our audience with the content and formats that they’re asking for.”

Users of the app can also bookmark stories and receive a curated selection of news stories every day through the “Your Daily Five” feature as well, Volcsko said.
