Ross Cunningham received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 2018, where he studied defect formation in laser powder bed fusion processing of aerospace alloys. After graduating, he joined Owens Corning to explore the use of additive techniques to manufacture high temperature tooling for the glass industry, and was the Product Manager for XSTRAND™ glass-fiber composite filament for FDM printers. He recently joined Messer as a project manager in their Application Development group, where he is responsible for creating innovative technologies to solve atmosphere-related challenges in AM. He is an author on over 11 AM-related papers including publications in Science and Nature, and is passionate about understanding the materials science of additive processes. He lives in NYC with his girlfriend Caitlin, where he enjoys cooking and looks forward to traveling again once COVID is over.
