Dr. Deb Volzer, Director of Government & Workforce Partnerships, SME will present on the Manufacturing Imperative – Workforce Pipeline Challenge (MI-WPC). MI-WPC combines the industry and workforce expertise of SME with the educational programs and innovations of a select group of U.S. community and technical colleges. Launched earlier this year, this initiative, our participating colleges and SME have received attention from the White House—Executive Office of the President as this initiative directly supports the White House’s Manufacturing Sprint. SME has launched 25 participating colleges and common challenges are emerging as a result of engaging with the colleges and their communities. Our goal for this collaborative is to bring awareness of careers in manufacturing, optimizes local workforce systems, and accelerate the education and skill development needed to place individuals in family-sustaining waged jobs that power our nation.
