The 2024 Pacific Northwest SME Roundtable, hosted by SME Seattle Chapter 39, successfully brought together about 50 manufacturing professionals, educators, and students for a dynamic two-day event in Bothell, WA. The event provided an excellent platform for learning, networking, and collaboration, with a particular focus on the transformative field of additive manufacturing.

The roundtable kicked off with insightful technical presentations. Topics ranged from designing for additive manufacturing using SOLIDWORKS to innovative approaches in orthotics and prosthetics care.

The students in attendance had a unique opportunity to connect with industry leaders. A mini focus group with students further underscored the roundtable’s collaborative spirit and focused on fostering the next generation of manufacturing talent. Also, this time included resume reviews, reinforcing the event's commitment to supporting future professionals.

On the second day, attendees participated in a tour of Fluke’s facilities in Everett, WA. This hands-on experience showcased cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and processes, offering a tangible connection between the insights shared during the presentations and real-world applications.

Participants included representatives from SME chapters across the region, such as Seattle 39, Spokane 248, Willamette Valley 423, Central Washington University S368, University of Washington Bothell S376, and Western Washington University S125.Plans are already underway for the next Pacific Northwest SME Roundtable, set to be hosted by Central Washington University. With its strong mix of technical expertise, professional development, and networking, this year’s event sets a high standard for what’s to come.
