Member Council Insights: Farhad Ghadamli

Farhad GhadamliMy fellow SME colleagues, and friends, I’m grateful that I have the pleasure of supporting you in my second year as your Member Council representative. Serving as a representative is a huge task, as I attend Member Council meetings and support the membership by providing key input on projects and initiatives. After all these years that I have volunteered for the Member Council, I'm still pushing forward to increase my involvement and contribution because I know of the value this organization is bringing to manufacturing and to the technical community. That's why I want to urge you to sign up and volunteer in a way that matches your schedule and interests.

As a past chapter leader of Oakland - Macomb Chapter No. 69 our chapter collaborated many times on virtual events with the Houston Chapter No. 29. Connecting with your local chapter provides many benefits including networking, knowledge sharing and student mentorship. Recently I relocated to Houston Texas and found that connecting with local SME members most welcoming.  Through the chapter network, I was able to make those connections beforehand and realizing that I knew SME members in Houston was a big relief and assistance with transitioning. I'm happy to let you know that I'm supporting the chapter after landing and settling down here in Houston!

To all the emerging professionals out there, know that SME has a unique position among all other professional organizations that enables you to learn, engage and advance in your respective engineering and manufacturing positions. Lastly, I would like to encourage you to engage with SME Membership and take advantage of upcoming, free engagement activities to maximize your membership.
