May 30, 2024 by SME Communications The Middle Tennessee State S239 Robotics Club, sponsored by SME Chapter 43 – the Nashville chapter, recently showcased their skills and innovation at the prestigious National Robotics Challenge (NRC) 2024 in Marion, Ohio. In the post-secondary category, the team went head-to-head with competitors from across the country, demonstrating their skills in various robotic disciplines. The awards earned by S239 Robotics Club include: Sumo Robot The S239 Robotics Club team secured the bronze award in this competitive Sumo Robot category. Their dedication and expertise shone through as they battled it out in the ring, showcasing their robot's strength and agility. Combat Robot Not one, but two of the S239 Robotics Club teams clinched victories in the Combat Robot category. They brought home the silver and bronze awards, demonstrating their skill of designing and maneuvering combat machines. Manufacturing Work Cell The S239 Robotics Club’s Manufacturing Work Cell team’s performance earned them the prestigious gold award. Their innovative approach to automation and efficiency gained the team a nomination for the esteemed Honda Innovation Award. Congratulations to all the members of the S239 Robotics Club for their remarkable achievements at the National Robotics Challenge 2024. The Award, established in 2011, recognizes SME student chapter faculty advisors for their continued oversight and engagement efforts in advocating for students and the manufacturing industry.
