February 15, 2024 by SME Communications The student chapter at VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) in India had an exciting last year. From January to December, SME-VIT was engaged in a diverse range of events, showcasing its commitment to fostering a vibrant and dynamic community. Over the year, they organized 55 events that spanned various activities including alumni talks, Campaign Against Substance Abuse (CASA) events, workshops, outreach initiatives, and industrial visits. VIT Vellore hosts dynamic tech fests showcasing innovation and creativity, one of which is GraVITas. These events provide a platform for students to exhibit their technical prowess and engage in competitions, workshops, and seminars. Renowned speakers and industry experts often grace these fests, enriching participants with valuable insights. SME-VIT raised the bar by doing three graVITas’23 Events, which is up from one event last year (two internal and one collaborative event) with an average of more than 50 students participating. The chapter went on two industrial visits with its core members to enhance their on-the-ground knowledge of the current industry trends. Outside of the normal quizzes, blog writing competitions, and meetings, the chapter participated in an event focused on preventing substance abuse. This shows the chapter is a partner with other organizations to promote topics important to them. While your chapter may not be able to do 55 events in a year, you can challenge yourself to think outside the box about activities and organizations to partner with.
