The North American Manufacturing Research Institution of SME (NAMRI | SME) has elected Katherine C. “KC” Morris FSME as its 2023-24 president at its 51st North American Research Conference held at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey this week.

Tooling U-SME, the workforce development division of SME, and CESMII–The Smart Manufacturing Institute, sponsored by NIST and the U.S Department of Energy, have launched a Fundamentals of Smart Manufacturing learning curriculum for building awareness and educating the workforce around newly available smart manufacturing processes and technologies.

The SME Education Foundation will award 163 scholarships to students from 34 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces pursuing a post-secondary education in manufacturing, engineering or related fields in 2023.

SME, the nonprofit organization committed to advancing manufacturing and developing a skilled workforce, announced today that it awarded its 2023 Excellence in Manufacturing Training Award to Intek Plastics, a major supplier of engineered thermoplastic extrusions, fabricated sub-assemblies and value-added services to original equipment manufacturers, based in Hastings, Minnesota.
